EXPERIENCING THE NEW BMW iX3 FIRSTHAND.

Recently, our Corporate Sales Manager Elizabeth McClay got behind the wheel of the new BMW iX3 for a trip to Dublin to catch the Six Nations in action. From Boucher Road to the Aviva, here’s how it performed.

There are certain journeys that remind you just how far automotive technology has come, and a recent trip to Dublin did exactly that.

I had the pleasure of travelling from our Boucher Road showroom to the Aviva Stadium for the Six Nations, and what better way to make the journey than behind the wheel of the new BMW iX3.

A round trip of 208 miles, door to door, and not once did range cross my mind.

Why? Because with an impressive range of up to 500 miles (WLTP), the new iX3 delivers a level of confidence that genuinely changes how you think about electric driving. Long-distance travel becomes effortless, no planning, no compromise, just the road ahead and the experience of driving.

Of course, like any good road trip, we made a stop at Applegreen for a coffee. Not out of necessity, but simply to enjoy the journey. Should you ever need to charge, the iX3’s 800V architecture enables ultra-rapid charging, adding up to 231 miles of range in just 10 minutes on a 400 kW DC charger. A quick break is all it takes.

Arriving in Dublin, the atmosphere around the Aviva Stadium was electric in every sense. The Six Nations never disappoints, and it was fantastic to soak up the energy of the crowd and the quality of rugby on display. It felt fitting to arrive in a vehicle that represents such a significant moment in BMW’s own journey.

The new BMW iX3 is more than just another electric vehicle. As the first series-production model built on the Neue Klasse platform, it marks a fundamental shift in how BMW approaches design, technology and sustainability. This is not just evolution; it is a revolution in the way electric vehicles are conceived, engineered, and experienced.

With up to 469 hp and 645 Nm of torque in the iX3 50 xDrive, and acceleration from 0–62 mph in just 4.9 seconds, performance remains every bit as engaging as you would expect from a BMW. But what truly stands out is what this car represents for the future.

Neue Klasse is not just about one model. It is the foundation for up to 40 new and updated BMW vehicles by 2027. It is a complete rethinking of the driving experience, setting a new benchmark for what customers can expect from a Sports Activity Vehicle, regardless of powertrain. For me, this journey perfectly captured what the new iX3 is all about: confidence, capability, and a seamless blend of performance and innovation.
